Apex Horseshoes
Apex Horseshoes is a project created by Rafa Forteza, an equine podiatrist specialised in the study of the hoof, its biomechanics and the development of solutions adapted to each horse.
The project was born from a simple idea: to use technology to develop new tools within equine podiatry.
Through 3D design and printing, Apex Horseshoes develops horseshoes and pads for different situations, with particular attention to laminitis cases, young horses and specific hoof protection and support needs.
Apex Horseshoes shoes have already been used in several countries, forming part of real cases and allowing the designs to be continuously developed and refined through practical experience.
3D horseshoes for laminitis
Laminitis is one of the most complex pathologies an equine podiatry professional faces.
Changes in the relationship between the coffin bone (P3), the hoof capsule and the internal structures of the foot mean that every case needs an individual evaluation.
Apex Horseshoes develops solutions specifically aimed at these cases, offering different possibilities of hoof support, protection and adaptation.
The design of the shoes makes it possible to work on different parameters and adapt the solution to each horse and to how the case evolves.
3D technology also makes it easier to create new designs and modifications, allowing shoe development to evolve alongside the experience gained in real cases.
Apex Foals
Young horses have different needs from adult horses.
During the first stages of growth the hoof changes constantly and foot conformation evolves as the foal develops.
Apex Foals was created to offer solutions designed specifically for foals, taking these particularities and the need for individual work into account.
The aim is to give professionals tools to protect and support hoof development when needed, without losing sight of the natural evolution of the foot.
Apex Pads
Pads are another of the Apex Horseshoes development lines.
A pad can be used to change the interaction between hoof and ground, provide additional protection or form part of a specific treatment and foot management protocol.
Apex develops different 3D printed solutions, combining design precision, adaptability and function.
3D manufacturing makes it possible to develop specific geometries and make quick modifications, helping designs evolve according to the needs found in daily practice.
Technology developed from practice
Apex Horseshoes is not only a horseshoe manufacturing project.
It is the result of a continuous search for new solutions within equine podiatry.
Direct experience with horses, case analysis and knowledge of hoof biomechanics are all part of the development process.
