Equine podiatry: technology, innovation and personalised treatments

At PodologiaEquina.es we work in the field of equine podiatry, applying technology, experience and innovation to the care and treatment of the horse's hoof. Our goal is to improve the health, function and wellbeing of the animal through solutions adapted to its specific needs.

We see equine podiatry as a constantly evolving discipline. That is why we continuously search for and apply new materials, techniques and technologies that allow us to develop increasingly precise, effective treatments that respect equine biomechanics.

Technology therefore becomes a tool at the service of hoof health and the horse's wellbeing.

Personalised equine podiatry treatments

Every horse, donkey or pony has a different morphology, biomechanics and set of needs. For this reason our equine podiatry treatments do not follow a standard protocol; they are adapted to the pathology, conformation, activity and progress of each animal.

We carry out individual assessments to address different hoof pathologies and disorders, including:

  • Laminitis
  • Navicular syndrome
  • Hoof imbalances and asymmetries
  • Cracks, fissures and fractures
  • Weak or deformed hooves
  • Hoof growth disorders
  • Biomechanical problems
  • Joint issues related to hoof balance
  • Cases requiring hoof rehabilitation and stabilisation

The aim is to restore, whenever possible, the balance, function and stability of the hoof, encouraging a better load distribution and a more natural, comfortable movement.

Hoof reconstruction and stabilisation

In certain cases damaged hoof structures need to be rebuilt or stabilised. To do so we use fibreglass and advanced technical materials, selecting the most suitable solution for each case.

These techniques protect compromised areas, add stability and support the recovery of damaged or weakened hooves.

The treatment is also adapted to the animal's lifestyle, whether it is a horse at rest or in rehabilitation, or one that continues in sport or competition.

Therapeutic horseshoes and custom 3D manufacturing

Bringing 3D printing into equine podiatry allows us to develop personalised solutions for specific clinical cases.

Custom 3D printed horseshoes make it possible to design solutions for each individual hoof and adapt them with great precision to the morphology and biomechanical needs of the animal.

Depending on the case, these solutions can be used to:

  • Adapt the shoe to the specific morphology of the hoof.
  • Modify support and load distribution.
  • Address particular biomechanical problems.
  • Increase stability during locomotion.
  • Improve comfort in cases of pain or chronic pathology.
  • Develop specific solutions that cannot be achieved with a conventional horseshoe.

Digital manufacturing opens new possibilities within advanced equine podiatry, combining traditional hoof knowledge with new design and production tools.

Equine podiatry adapted to each animal

We work with different techniques, materials and solutions in order to adapt to the characteristics of each horse, donkey or pony.

Age, morphology, pathology, hoof condition, sporting activity and the animal's needs are all factors we consider before deciding on a treatment.

Because equine podiatry is not only about treating the hoof. The ultimate goal is to improve the animal's wellbeing, comfort, movement and quality of life through an individual approach.
